Why Every Hand-Marbled Candle Looks Different

Pick up any two Doors at 7 Co. candles in the same scent and look closely at the wax. The swirls will be cousins, not twins. That is not a flaw — it is the signature of how every candle is made.

The swirling method

Every candle is marbled by hand using a technique called the swirling method. Here is what that actually looks like at the workbench:

The wax — our IGI 6046 coconut-paraffin blend — is melted and scented, then poured into the jar in layers of different colors. While the wax is still liquid, it is swirled by hand: a slow, deliberate pass through the jar that pulls the colors into one another without fully blending them. Then the candle sets, and whatever pattern the swirl created is frozen in place forever.

No stencils. No molds. No two passes of the wrist ever land the same way twice.

Why no two candles match

Marbling is controlled chance. The temperature of the wax, the speed of the swirl, how far the colors have begun to set — all of it shapes the final pattern. Even two candles poured minutes apart from the same batch will set with different veins, eddies, and ribbons of color.

That means the candle on your shelf is genuinely one of a kind. The scent is measured and repeatable; the marbling never is.

Does the marbling affect the burn?

No. The colors are the same wax blend throughout, so a marbled candle burns exactly like a solid one — same melt pool, same scent throw, same 30+ hours in the 8oz and 40+ in the 3-wick 14oz. The swirl is purely the candle's fingerprint.

Caring for a marbled candle

The same rules as any candle: trim the wick to about a quarter inch, let the first burn melt the full surface, and keep it away from drafts. The marbling will slowly reappear as the candle burns down — each layer reveals the pattern again.
